Procar for the Road
The BMW M1 remains a standout model for BMW's ‘M’ division, setting the standard for future M cars with its stunning design and exceptional performance. This particular M1 was first delivered to Franz Reuther, better known as Frank Farian, a renowned German record producer, singer and songwriter, achieved massive success with groups like Boney M, Far Corporation, Meat Loaf and Milli Vanilli, selling over 850 million records.
Farian, always one to embrace the spotlight, had his striking M1 sent back to BMW Motorsport for modifications to match the M1 Procars. These enhancements included a large rear wing, a front splitter, and flared wheel arches to accommodate wider 16-inch BBS RS multipiece wheels. By the summer of 1987, these modifications were complete. The car also received a luxurious interior upgrade with full leather upholstery and an enhanced sound system featuring a Becker Mexico stereo, Clarion 150EQB graphic equalizer, and additional speakers.
