Renault revives iconic R17 with Ora Ïto

Renault continues to embrace its heritage while pushing the boundaries of design and technology. Since 2021, the brand has collaborated with contemporary designers to reinvent its classic models. This year, Renault teamed up with acclaimed French designer Ora Ïto to create the R17 electric restomod x Ora Ïto – a modern, stylish reimagining of the iconic Renault 17 sports coupé.

Launched in 1971, the Renault 17 was known for its clean lines, sporty design, and innovative features. Ora Ïto, a leading figure in contemporary design, has brought this classic car into the 21st century with a bold, retro-futuristic approach. The R17 electric restomod maintains the original model's elegance while integrating cutting-edge materials and a 270 bhp all-electric powertrain.

The exterior boasts a widened body for improved handling, sleek carbon fibre elements, and a custom Galactic Brown paint job. Inside, the cabin features luxurious Merino wool upholstery and a blend of modern tech and nostalgic design, including a central screen and geometric dials reminiscent of the original R17.

Though not destined for production, the R17 electric restomod x Ora Ïto perfectly captures the fusion of past and present, showcasing Renault's innovative spirit and commitment to honouring its rich legacy.
