Porsche's homage to Siffert
Porsche has unveiled a stunning tribute to Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert with the 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert, honouring both his legacy and the first race victory of the legendary Porsche 917 nearly 55 years ago. On 10 August 1969, Siffert and Kurt Ahrens secured a historic win at the 1,000-kilometre race at the Osterreichring, marking the beginning of the 917’s dominance in motorsport.
Built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur as part of the Sonderwunsch programme, this extraordinary one-off car was showcased at Swiss Porsche Centres, before taking centre stage at Auto Zurich last November. Interest in the car was of course high, with a buyer selected at random from those who applied.
Jo Siffert remains a cult hero in Switzerland, revered for his passion, charisma, and relentless pursuit of victory. Over an 11-year career, he contested 298 races, often competing in multiple events on the same weekend. His son Philippe Siffert and grandson Jeremy Siffert were closely involved in the creation of this special GT3 RS.
