The Best of Block
The Petersen Automotive Museum has unveiled its latest exhibit, ‘People’s Champ: The Impact of Ken Block,’ now open in the Meyer Gallery. This exhibit pays tribute to the motorsports icon’s life and achievements, showcasing the most extensive collection of his vehicles, personal effects and memorabilia ever assembled.
The exhibit celebrates Block’s influence as a racer, entrepreneur and creative visionary. Known for his viral Gymkhana video series, Block captivated global audiences with his unique blend of rallying and cinematic flair. Beyond racing, he co-founded DC Shoes and later founded Hoonigan, a brand that embodies speed, rebellion and passion.
The exhibit features Block's iconic vehicles, racing suits, helmets and mementos from significant moments in his career. Highlights include: the 2005 Subaru WRX STI that started it all and the original star of the Gymkhana series; the 2008 Subaru WRX STI from Gymkhana 2; the 1965 Ford Mustang RTR ‘Hoonicorn’ star of Gymkhana 7, Climbkhana and Gymkhana 10; the 2016 Ford Focus RS RX used in FIA World Rallycross Championship and featured in Gymkhana 10; the 1977 Ford F-150 ‘Hoonitruck,’ featured in Gymkhana 10, inspired by Block’s father’s F-150, the first car Block learned to drive; the 2022 Audi S1 E-Tron Quattro ‘Hoonitron,’ designed for Electrikhana, his Ford Escort RS Cosworth and RS200; and finally the 2022 Porsche 911 SVRSR ‘Hoonipigasus,’ built to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.
Created in partnership with the 43 Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to keeping Block’s legacy alive, the exhibit aims to inspire future generations. People's Champ: The Impact of Ken Block will be on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum until October 2025.
