Me, Myself and I by Chris Labrooy
What if a self-portrait wasn’t just a reflection of the self, but also of movement, memory and machine? That’s the idea behind ‘Me, Myself and I,’ a unique series of digital self-portraits by artist and designer Chris Labrooy.
Over several months, Labrooy experimented with 3D scanning using his iPhone, unexpectedly discovering a new way to explore identity. By incorporating a head scan and crafting detailed 3D-modelled outfits, he brought his vision to life – through vehicles.
Each piece in the series tells a different story. The first portrait features the legendary Porsche 911, a long-time inspiration and creative muse. The second transforms a Volkswagen T3 Transporter into a musical embodiment of movement and rhythm. The final portrait is steeped in nostalgia, inspired by a winter spent stranded in Berlin, where the iconic ivory-coloured Mercedes taxis became an unexpected part of the experience.
With its blend of personal history and automotive artistry, Me, Myself and I is a striking example of how technology can be used to redefine self-expression.
