What the Fuchs!
Something a little different in the Ecurie store for February, this time we celebrate the Porsche IROC series from 1973 with a print featuring the icon Fuchs wheels that adorned those colourful Carrera RSRs. Each wheel represents the driver and the colour of their Porsche in which they competed.
Available in three different sizes, no matter where you are in the world, your artwork can be printed locally and on its way to you in a matter of days. In 1973, the International Race of Champions (IROC) series was conceived to bring the best drivers from Formula 1, Nascar, Indycar and Sportscar racing together in identically prepared Porsche Carrera RSRs for major TV audiences during the winter off season.
The Carrera RSRs, identical except for their colour schemes, were manufactured in Germany and delivered to Riverside International Raceway, for the American series. The car became known as the IROC RSR. Not surprisingly, that first season was dominated by drivers Mark Donohue and George Follmer, both Porsche racing drivers at the time. Mark Donohue won three of the four race series, becoming the inaugural champion.
