Reimagining a Legend
First revealed at the Paris Salon de L’Auto in 1967, the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is one of the most celebrated Italian cars of all time. Designed by Franco Scaglione and based on the Autodelta Tipo 33 racing car, only 18 examples of the 33 Stradale were ever produced. Fast forward over fifty years and the legendary supercar has been reimagined as a contemporary hypercar – the Stradale 33 Visione.
The aim of the project was to retain the original model’s distinctive endurance-style bodywork and design language while bestowing the vehicle with an unmistakably modern visual theme. On top of drawing ample aesthetic influence from the 1960s supercar, the Stradale 33 Visione also borrows elements from other iconic Alfa Romeo offerings such as the Giulia Sprint GTA, the 33/2 Coupe concept car from 1969, and even the Alfa radial-engined Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero medium bomber plane. Another aspect of the project that combines modern and retro visual themes is the exposed velocity stack-fed mid-placed V8 engine, a contemporary take on the 227hp 2.0L DOHC V8 found in the 1967 model.
