Shaken, not stirred
This 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Rally was first campaigned in the final round of the World Rally Championship of the same year by the famous Lancia Martini team. Driven by Finnish pairing Markku Alén and Ilkka Kivimäki, it finished an impressive 2nd overall at the Lombard RAC Rally, separated by less than 60 seconds from the winners after 63 stages and 550 miles.
In 1986 it rejoined the Group B action in the European Rally Championship, still in Martini livery but entered by Jolly Club, it first appeared at the Ypres 24 Hour Rally in Belgium driven by Fabrizio Tabaton and Luciano Tedeschini. Unfortunately an accident shortened their race and the car didn’t finish. It next appeared at the Halkidiki Rally in Greece, now with Scuderia Griffone in Esso Black-Gold livery. Again driven by Tabaton and Tedeschini it finished 1st, taking home its first victory.
