Carbon Fibre Art by Katy Barnfield

Carbon Fibre Art is the work of Katy Barnfield, an artist based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Katy uses carbon fibre as a canvas for her artwork which focuses on the world of motorsport, including racing cars, famous crash helmets, racing circuits, as well other automotive subjects and portraiture too.

Her love for carbon fibre started at an early age, working with (or “annoying” as Katy puts it) her dad in their shed. Katy would polish moulds and help out with the odd small project, all the time learning and developing an understand for the carbon fibre as a creative material.

After studying graphic design, where she developed a passion for urban artists and all things pop art, Katy started working on combining the structure and laminating skills from working with her dad, with the experimental skills studying had given her, to create a process that allowed her to produce artwork with carbon fibre.

Current McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris is certainly a fan of Katy’s work. To see more and to visit her online shop, click on the link below. Photos courtesy of Steve Green.
